TRE® is a non-talking method of releasing tension and trauma which keeps us stuck in natural defence strategies such as fight, flight, fawn or freeze. These responses can happen after a traumatic event or stressful situation has passed or due to a build up of day-to-day stresses (work, family, deadlines, crowds, moving house etc)
Originally developed by David Berceli, it has proven highly effective in relieving the sypmtoms stress/tensions and experiencing/witnessing of traumatic events (ongoing or one-off) such as abuse, bullying, unexpected loss of a loved one or physical accidents such as a car crash.
TRE® is unique and effective as it:
- is easily learned and, often, has an immediate impact on your sense of wellbeing
- activates the relaxation response of the parasympathetic nervous system (the opposite of our danger response)
- does not require any retelling of trauma or stress related events
- does not require any discussion of symptoms you are experiencing that you think might be stress or trauma related
- allows your body to lead the journey to reset your stuck patterns and does not require you to understand or remember
I guide you through a set of 7 physical exercises that will gently induce your natural tremoring mechanism in a safe way. I guide you in how to stop the tremors at any time, if you are tired or feeling overwhelmed, so that you are in full control.
I also guide you to be present and aware of what is going on, encouraging you in different ways so that your body is able to tremor as effectively and safely as possible. These tremors, or shaking, engage your body in a natural process that we longer value or recognise as being necessary to our health and well-being.
